This large pitcher — a "chakai" in Chinese tea tradition — is made by Hakudake Kiln in Hasami, Nagasaki. Hasami potters have been refining glazed porcelain since the early seventeenth century, and the limestone glaze draws on that long refinement: a softly uneven white surface that shifts from warm to cool depending on the light. At 430ml, it's sized for longer sessions — pour your steeped tea in to even out concentration before distributing to cups, or use it to bring boiling water down to brewing range before the kyusu.
