Sou - Yunomi/Tea Cup (Light Green Porcelain)

Regular price ¥935 JPY
ByMIYAMA

Description

The same incised ring pattern, but in a pale green that is softer and more spring-like than celadon.

The sou yunomi in light green shares the defining feature of the series — concentric incised rings that give the glaze depth and tonal variation — but uses a lighter, cooler porcelain glaze rather than true celadon. Made in Mizunami, Gifu, the light green glaze reads as a delicate mint-white in natural light. The rings catch shadow in the grooves, creating subtle movement on the surface. At 100ml, the same focused size as the celadon version. Learn more about Mino ware at Tea Ware: Mino Ware.

A lighter expression of the sou form — for those who prefer a cooler, more neutral palette on the tea table.

Story

Founded in 1977 in Mizunami, Gifu Prefecture — the heart of Mino-yaki ceramic production — MIYAMA has spent nearly five decades mastering the art of slip casting, shaping liquid porcelain in plaster molds to achieve forms that are both precise and quietly expressive.

Under second-generation director Hideyuki Matsuzaki, the studio pursues a guiding philosophy: design pieces that invite you to imagine the moment of use. Good Design Award recognition for the KOWAKE (2004), column (2006), and isola/sasasa (2010) series reflects a body of work that pairs gentle humor with careful craft — tableware that earns a place in everyday life without demanding attention.
