This side-handle kyusu is made by Takashige Toen in Tokoname, Aichi — a pottery town where craftspeople have shaped clay since the twelfth century. The unglazed stoneware surface has a soft, matte texture that feels settled in the hand. AZMAYA worked with Tokoname craftspeople to develop the round form, which sits naturally in the palm. The lid is fitted using the "futa-suri" technique — each lid is ground to match its body individually, so the seal is exact and there's no drip when you pour. The fine-mesh built-in strainer handles standard loose-leaf tea without clogging. Learn more about Tokoname ware at Tea Ware: Tokoname Ware.
A daily-use kyusu for sencha, gyokuro, or any Japanese loose-leaf tea you reach for without thinking.
