cosaji - Yunomi/Tea Cup (Deep Blue Porcelain)

Regular price ¥610 JPY
ByMIYAMA

Description

Deep blue that shifts in the light — somewhere between cobalt and indigo.

The cosaji yunomi from MIYAMA takes its name from the small spoon-like curve at the rim — a subtle design choice that softens the sip and gives the profile something to notice. Made in Mizunami, Gifu, the porcelain is dense enough to leave the exterior unglazed — bare clay, perfectly smooth and dry to the touch. Inside, the deep blue glaze shifts: darker where it pools at the base, lighter and more translucent toward the rim. At 95cc, this is a cup built for concentration — a single pour of gyokuro or a focused sencha. Learn more about Mino ware at Tea Ware: Mino Ware.

A cup that draws the eye to it on the table, but doesn't fight with the tea inside it.

Story
MIYAMA was founded in 1977. Using a technique called “casting” (a technique in which mud white porcelain earth is cast into a plaster mold), ceramics are made by many people and in many processes.
