Kushime - Yunomi/Tea Cup (White Porcelain)

This yunomi is made by Oda Pottery (小田陶器) in Mizunami, Gifu — a workshop with around 100 years of history in the Mino-yaki tradition. The kushime technique involves drawing a comb-like tool across the clay before firing, creating closely spaced parallel grooves that catch shadow and add movement to an otherwise simple white surface. In the white colorway, the glaze is even and clean — the only variation comes from the grooves themselves, where shadow accumulates and the surface shifts from bright white to a softer grey in the recesses.
